AWOL Osi and the G-Men season preview!!

Despite a whirlwind of questions at the Wide Receiver position, the New York football Giants looked poised to make the playoffs for a 5th consecutive season...

The main strength of this team is their D...the offseason additions of Chris Canty, Rocky Bernard and Michael Boley make this Giants defense one of the best defensive units in all of foosball...

The D is also more than happy to welcome back their stud DE Osi "AWOL" Umenyiora who is returning after missing last season....now before I go off on how talented this man is..i would like to throw out a FINGER OF SHAME for acting like a PO'd 9 year old who was told he wasn't allowed to play Madden until his homework was done...You just don't decide to no-show a practice when you are supposed to be a leader on this team...Put your ego aside and do what's best for the squad.....

Even if you take Osi out of the equation, the D-Line is beyond solid with Justin Tuck at the other DE position...after a solid season in '07, he proved to the league in '08 with his 12 sacks that he is gonna be a major player for many more years to come and showed Giant fans that big ol' Michael Strahan retiring didn't kill the line...The DT combo of Fred Robbins and 6' 7" former Cowboy Chris Canty will do some damage and it's possible that the two of them standing side by side resembles the Great Wall of China with their 600 lbs of mass...

The linebacker core will hit or miss based in my view on the play of Antonio Pierce...he is starting to show slight signs of decline, but if he can remain to be the outspoken leader of the D and not let his offseason troubles get in his head he should be more than solid....Gerris Wilkinson and Kiwanuka are safe bets for holding their own and I like the intensity that Chase Blackburn and Zac DeOssie bring to the table...can you say breakout season for either of these guys? Throw in Michael Boley when he returns from his suspension and that is just another unit chock full of depth...

If Aaron Ross can stay healthy, he makes a solid core of CB's with Corey Webster...Michael Johnson is a reliable safety and Kenny Phillips will absolutely emerge this year after having a full year of experience in the pros....

When I look at this D....I see no weaknesses and plenty of options if a man or two goes down...They may need to rely on this strong D if....

These Wide Receivers continue to not catch passes from 97.5 million dollar man, Eli Manning...

Despite showing the ability to get open, the receiving unit just can't seem to catch a pass...if you need proof just talk to Steve Smith after missing a potential TD throw against the Jets last week...
I see a unit full of #2 and #3 receivers with no clear-cut #1...thanks for being a jackass Plax...Because of you, you left a gaping hole in the offense....
If I had to arrange who I would put at WR, I would put Nicks as my #1...hey, you drafted him in the first round for a reason and he has looked good in preseason...#2 would be Steve Smith, #3 would be Dominick Hixon and my #4 would be Mario Manningham after having a very impressive preseason...
I would show the door to Sinorice Moss because he simply isn't an NFL receiver...when your jersey sells for $30 at Modell's and your STILL on the team...your no good..
With a tear in my eye, i'd also show the door to Super Bowl hero, David Tyree who quite frankly doesn't have it anymore and can't catch a ball if his life depended on it..
Amani Toomer anyone? The Chiefs did just cut him....
It is a VERY big possibility that Kevin Boss could lead this team in TD catches this year...he is the most reliable receiver Eli has...not to mention the biggist boss that you've seen thus far...
But hey, at least big E still has a solid backfield with the mack truck whose name is Madison Hedgecock and the RB duo of Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw...wind may have gone to Tampa Bay (Derrick Ward), but Bradshaw should be more than able to fill his shoes...Jacobs will continue to do what he does best..which is scoring about 12-14 TD's and leave a path of injured opponents along the way..
The NFC East is definitely more competitive than it was last season, but the G-Men will ride the D and their running game into the playoffs once again...
My prediction...10-6
